The MMA world is buzzing this morning with the news that Conor McGregor will fight Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title at UFC 205 in New York City on November, but one man who’s not happy about the announcement is Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Last week Dana White had appeared to pour cold water on rumors about the McGregor Vs Alvarez by telling a fan on Twitter that it was in fact Nurmagomedov, not ‘The Notorious’ who would be fighting for the belt.
The Russian star was overjoyed by that news at the time, stating on Twitter, “I had a very generous birthday gift today. Thanks @danawhite @ufc.”
However, Alvarez stalled on signing up for the fight and Nurmagomedov’s fears that he was just being used as a pawn in a bigger game have now been confirmed with news that McGregor Vs Alvarez is now official for the main event of UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden.
“I have two bout agreements that bullshit champ refuses to sign,” said on Twitter after the announcement. “I got used the whole time to make Conor and Eddie get on their knees and beg.
“Just for the record @Ealvarezfight and @TheNotoriousMMA fear me I’m just a man. Your time will come to get my hands on you.”
In a further message, the current No.1 contender, who’s won all seven of his fights in the UFC so far and holds a flawless 23-0 career record overall, lashed out at the UFC for how they’ve handled the situation, but vowed to continue competing despite this latest setback.
“When I signed agreement with @UFC it was sport. Now it became a freak show, or I don’t know how to call it right. Only thing that keeping me in this cracking sport, is that I don’t want to stop on the halfway, I wasn’t raised like this, not a quiter. I’ll keep moving forward InshaAllah.”
