Khabib Nurmagomedov Now Fights Al Iaquinta In UFC 223 Main Event

The UFC 223 twists and turns are continuing with Al Iaquinta now stepping in on just 24 hours notice to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of the evening.

Iaquinta was drafted in after Max Holloway was forced out of his own attempt to step in as a late replacement after doctors ruled it wasn’t safe for him to continue to cut weight for the title fight.

However, though Nurmagomedov can still win the title on Saturday night, Iaquinta unfortunately won’t be able to since he had already weighed in just .2lbs over the championship limit earlier in the day, unaware of what was about to happen.

No doubt Iaquinta will have been paid handsomely to step up from his originally scheduled fight with Paul Felder on the main card though, so it seems that everybody is happy with the arrangement and the show goes on with Nurmagomedov Vs Iaquinta in the main event and Rose Namajunas Vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk still serving as the co-main event.
