Round One
We’re underway in the main event. Rockhold taking the center of the Octagon. Philippou lands a short leg kick and Rockhold goes to the body with one of his own.
Lots of feints being thrown here by the two men then Rockhold lands a right hand hard and as he presses in to capitalize on that he’s met by a punch from Philippou.
They clinch briefly, but Philippou disengages. Rockhold lands a head kick, but Philippou is ok. He’s bleeding from a cut on his head now though.
Rockhold lands to the liver with a kick and then as Philippou bounces back against the cage he follows up with another one right to the same point and it drops him!
Rockhold lands a kick to his grounded opponents body, but it’s unneccessary at this stage as Philippou’s clearly too hurt to continue and the referee was already rushing in to bring an end to the contest.
Big win for the former Strikeforce champion then, his first in the UFC and proves he’s a force to be reckoned with in the upper reaches of the middleweight division.
