Lyoto Machida Looks Likely To Fight Luke Rockhold Next

After taking just 62 seconds to stop CB Dollaway with a liver kick on Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 58, Lyoto Machida may now be on course to fight Luke Rockhold.

Following the fight the current No.5 ranked middleweight Rockhold made it clear he has his sights set on fighting, ‘The Dragon’.

“@lyotomachidafw looked good. I’m ready when you are @danawhite,” Rockhold wrote on Twitter.

Asked about the potential fight at the post-fight press conference, Machida admitted it was an intriguing match-up.

“Rockhold is also in the line, so maybe a fight against him is an excellent fight,” Machida told the assembled media.

Whatever happens Machida has indicated that he’s looking to stay busy in the Octagon in 2015.

“I think it’s too soon to talk about it, but I want to fight more,” Machida said. “I told the UFC I want to fight more throughout the year. It could happen, but it’s too soon to talk. I want to fight three or four times a year, though.”

Of course it’s all down to the UFC to decide what comes next for the two middleweight stars and the good news is that Dana White has claimed that he is “ready” for the fight.
