Following Lyoto Machida’s big knockout win over Ryan Bader last night at ‘UFC On FOX 4’ he spoke about his performance and his statement that ‘The Dragon is back’.

Speaking of his strategy for the fight, Machida says he noticed that when he held back and waited during the fight that Bader would come forward a lot. So he continued to do that, knowing that when he did rush forward he would be able to connect with a knockout blow.

Machida was also pleased that he was able to produce a definitive finish in this fight, noting that he doesn’t like it when there’s doubt about who won the fight as happened in his first fight with ‘Shogun’ Rua.

Immediately after the fight Machida told the fans that “The Dragon Is Back”, and he explains that this means that he’s back after his loss to Jon Jones and is now going to put together a long winning run.

At the time of the interview he didn’t yet know that he was going to be picked as the next No.1 contender in the division, but he said he was happy to leave it up to Dana White to decide.
