Lyoto Machida Vs Dan Henderson II Targeted For UFC On FOX 19

Reports out of Brazil suggest that the UFC are putting together a rematch between Lyoto Machida and Dan Henderson for UFC On FOX 19 in in Florida on April 16th.

Machida and Henderson first fought at UFC 157 in early 2013 with Machida emerging victorious on that occasion, though only by a split decision verdict.

Both men have struggled to find the form they produced earlier in their careers since then. That’s particularly true for Henderson, who’s now 45 years old and has mustered only a 2-5 record since then, though Machida’s 3-4 record isn’t that much better.

Machida has been fighting at middleweight since not long after his fight with ‘Hendo’, and indeed did manage to fight for the 185lb title against Chris Weidman in 2014, but more recently he’s suffered back-to-back stoppage losses to Luke Rockhold and Yoel Romero.

Henderson dropped down to 185lbs too more recently in an attempt to revive his fortunes, though he’s only gone 1-2 so far and is coming off a head kick KO loss to Vitor Belfort back in November.

Machida Vs Henderson II isn’t official yet, but assuming it does so in the coming days then it’ll join another veteran pairing of Rashad Evans Vs Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua on the UFC On FOX 19 main card which is also expected to host a lightweight encounter between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
