Macy Chiasson proved her first submission win over Pannie Kianzad five years ago was no fluke tonight at UFC Fight Night 239 as she earned another rear-naked choke victory in the opening round.
Round One:
Kianzad takes the center of the cage to start. Body kick from Chiasson comes off the and Kianzad looks for punches.
Early clinch exchange against the cage here and Chiasson turns into Kianzad and then works a takedown.
Chiasson in Kianzad’s guard and from the bottom it’s Kianzad who is landing a series of strikes. Both fighters then try going for potential submission attempts before Kianzad gets back up to her feet.
They remain locked in battle for control though and Chiasson is working to get the fight to the ground again, but after a scramble they are back upright again.
Chiasson has the back clinch against the cage. She works to bring the fight down yet again and this time when she does via a nice trip she quickly gets herself in a better position, getting her back against the cage while putting in her hooks as she sinks in a rear-naked choke attempt.
Kianzad trying to survive here, but Chiasson adjusts and gets the choke right under the chin, forcing a frantic tap from her opponent. Chiasson beats Kianzad for the second time by rear-naked choke at 3.54mins of the opening round.
