Mara Romero Borella Defeats Kalindra Faria By 1st Round Submission At UFC 216

Mara Romero Borella made an immediate impact in her UFC 216 debut tonight, submitting Kalindra Faria mid-way through the first round.

Round One:

Faria looking to strike immediately here, but Borella moves in and lands a takedown. Borella smoothly starts passing Faria’s guard and gets right to full mount with ease.

Borella moves Faria away from teh cage and continues to mainta good control on top. She lands a punch, but just the one – not too much in the way of ground and pound so far.

Half-way through the round and Faria is giving up her back and Borella gladly takes it and is soon sinking in what would prove to be a fight-ending rear-naked choke submission that forces her opponent to tap out at 2.54mins of the very first round.

Nice work from Borella, who took this fight on short notice and made the most of it, completely dominating Faria.
