Mark Hunt’s Fight-Ending Punch Broke Stefan Struve’s Jaw

In the aftermath of Mark Hunt’s ‘Knockout Of The Night’ finish over Stefan Struve in the co-main event of ‘UFC On Fuel TV 8’ this evening it’s emerged that the final blow broke Struve’s jaw.

After a back and forth battle Hunt pressed forward in the third round and landed a right hook followed by a massive left hook and it’s that last punch that’s believed to have fractured the Dutchman’s jaw.

Struve was still conscious after that crushing blow, but by the sounds of things the referee made the right call to stop the fight there and then.

“Thanks for the support everybody, I wanted Herb to take the tooth out of my cheek and continue but then it turned out my jaw was broken,” Struve tolds his fans on Twitter after the event.

“fotn would have made my day a little better, have to stay in Japan to get my jaw fixed now.. :(“ Struve then revealed, before adding, “45 minutes to the hospital without painkillers.. Man, please choke me out.. Jaw is hurting like crazy.. :(“

Sounds pretty grim and unfortunately that’s an injury that’ll keep Struve out of the Octagon for a significant period of time, but we’d certainly like to wish him a speedy recovery.
