Mark Munoz Reveals His Gameplan For Gegard Mousasi Fight

Mark Munoz meets Gegard Mousasi in the main event of UFC Fight Night 41 in Berlin, Germany on Saturday night and he’s hungry to get back to winning ways after suffering a KO loss to Lyoto Machida last time out.

With that in mind it seems that ‘The Filipino Wrecking Machine’ is planning to take no changes and will look to exploit Mousasi’s biggest weakness when they meet in the Octagon.

“Gegard’s got a lot of fights in MMA, he’s an accomplished striker, he’s very well versed on the mat,” Munoz said during an appearance as guest presenter on the Inside MMA show on AXS TV. “One thing he doesn’t have is wrestling.”

Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal exploited his vulnerability to the takedown to snatch the Strikeforce light-heavyweight title from Mousasi a few years ago, and it looks like Munoz will employ similar tactics at the weekend.

“It’s not a secret, I’m not going to stand up with a striker. You know, it’s not a secret. He knows I’m going to take him down.”

We’ll see if Mousasi has been brushing up on his takedown defense when they meet in the cage on Saturday night on the UFC Fight Pass subscription service.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
