The UFC will return to Berlin, Germany on May 31st for ‘UFC Fight Night 41’ and today it was revealed that a middleweight clash between Mark Munoz and Gegard Mousasi will headline the show.
Munoz is coming off a knockout loss to Lyoto Machida in October of last year, but a win prior to that against Tim Boetsch and an overall 8-4 record in the UFC leaves him ranked No.7 in the division at this moment in time.
In Mousasi he faces the current No.12 ranked contender who coincidentally was also defeated by Machida last time out, though he survived the full five rounds with the former light-heavyweight champion before losing out by unanimous decision.
The former Strikeforce 205lb champ is still finding his footing in the UFC after debuting with a win over Ilir Latifi last year which was followed by a long layoff due to a knee injury.
In an unprecedented move, ‘UFC Fight Night 41’ will be the first of two UFC events hosted on the one day, as it’ll be the precursor to the ‘UFC Fight Night 42’ event in Brazil that’s believed to be the landing spot for Chael Sonnen Vs Wanderlei Silva, though reports suggest that fight is not finalized yet.
