Mark Munoz is set to return to the Octagon at UFC 184 in Los Angeles in February against Roan Carneiro.
Munoz has had a tough time in the Octagon lately, having lost three of his last four fights, including two by knockout against Lyoto Machida and Chris Weidman.
Once considered one of the divisions top contenders, Munoz’s slump in form has left him barely holding onto a place in the divisional rankings at No.14, so the 36 year-old will be looking at this next fight as an absolute must-win.
After facing a string of the division’s best fighters Munoz will be taking on a different level of opposition in the shape of Carnerio who returns to the UFC over six years after he last fought in the Octagon, compiling a 2-3 record.
Since then he’s been fighting for smaller promotions and managed to put together a 7-1 record including a win over another former UFC fighter Brock Larson last time out at a Battlegrounds MMA event in October.
Munoz Vs Carnerio joins an already stacked UFC 184 line-up that’s headlined by a middleweight title encounter between Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort while a second title fight on the night sees Ronda Rousey up against Cat Zingano.
That’s not all though as there’s also Antonio Silva Vs Frank Mir, Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza Vs Yoel Romero and Josh Koscheck Vs Jake Ellenberger to look forward to on this must see pay-per-view event.
