A welterweight fight between veteran stars Matt Brown and Diego Sanchez has been announced for UFC Fight Night 120 in Virginia on November 11th.
Sanchez is stepping back up to welterweight for the first time in over five years to take this bout, having focused his time primarily on competing at lightweight in recent times, together with a brief stint at featherweight.
In Sanchez’s last stint at 170lbs he compiled a 2-2 record, whereas since then the 35-year-old has gone 4-5 in the Octagon, including suffering a first round KO loss to Al Iaquinta last time out, and a TKO defeat against Joe Lauzon last summer.
Meanwhile, the 36-year-old Brown has been going through a very rough patch in the welterweight division, with his impressive seven-fight winning streak now just a distant memory given that he’s lost five of his last six fights, including a head kick KO loss to Donald Cerrone back in December in addition to being TKO’d by Jake Ellenberger prior to that.
So, both Brown and Sanchez appear to be in the twilight of their hard-fought careers now and will be looking for a big win here to prove that they’ve still got what it takes to compete at a high level.
