Matt Mitrione’s Suspension Lasts Barely Two Weeks – Now Fighting Brendan Schaub

Matt Mitrione’s suspension from the UFC for unseemly remarks made about post-op transexual fighter Fallon Fox lasted just 16 days and he’s now got a new fight scheduled with the promotion.

Mitrione will now fight fellow TUF 10 competitor Brendan Schaub at ‘UFC On FOX 8’ in July.

It should be noted that Mitrione also received a fine from the UFC for his actions, but that aside it seems the suspension was just a token gesture that didn’t hinder him in any way.

Mitrione landed himself in trouble just days after securing a knockout win over Phil De Fries in Sweden bringing an end to a two-fight losing slump.

Schaub also rebounded from two defeats in a row recently with a unanimous decision win over Lavar Johnson so this is a fight that appears to make sense at this stage.

While nothing’s confirmed yet it looks as if this heavyweight clash will end up on the preliminary card of the upcoming FOX show, though it could be the kind of fight that would be under consideration to step up to a main card spot if there were any injury problems to the main card bouts.
