Melvin Guillard Signs Multi-Fight Deal With World Series Of Fighting

Melvin Guillard is the latest ex-UFC star to make his way over to the World Series Of Fighting promotion after striking a multi-fight deal with the promotion.

“Just signed with WSOF it feeling good to be apart of something different its time to make some real money and get that belt,” Guillard stated on Twitter.

Guillard was released by the UFC last month after a rough few years in the Octagon in which he had gone just 2-5 (1NC).

That had been proceeded by a five fight winning streak which marked a high point in his career which made his sudden slump in form all the more surprising.

Despite almost 50 career fights there’s still plenty of life left in the 31 year-old though and if he can rediscover his form then he could prove to be a great signing for WSOF.

‘The Young Assassin’ joins other notable fighters like Rousimar Palhares, Yushin Okami and Jon Fitch to name buy a few who’ve made their way to the WSOF cage from the Octagon in the past year or so.

WSOF currently airs on the NBC Sports channel, but they are also expected to host an event on NBC’s main channel later this year.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
