Michael Bisping Vs Cung Le To Headline August UFC Event In Macau

A middleeweight match-up between Michael Bisping and Cung Le has been announced as the main event of a UFC Fight Night event in Macau on August 23rd.

Bisping is coming off a disappointing performance in a decision loss to Tim Kennedy last month that resulted in him slipping down to No.8 on the official rankings, and he’s been eager to get back into the Octagon as soon as possible to attempt to get back to winning ways.

Le has been far less active in the UFC, not having fought since November of 2012 (which means he doesn’t currently feature on the rankings), but he claimed a big KO win over Rich Franklin on that occasion and is 2-1 in the promotion so far.

It’s an intriguing stylistic match-up. Bisping has often won fights in the past by being the technically more sound striker, but it’ll be interesting to see how he handles Le’s kicking prowess and unpredictability and the Brit’s cardio could end up being his biggest advantage in this one.

With Bisping Vs Le now headlining, a previously announced fight between Hector Lombard and Dong Hyun Kim now moves to the co-main event slot on the card which will mark the UFC’s second visit to Macau this year.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
