Michel Prazeres Defeats Desmond Green By Unanimous Decision At UFC Fight Night 125

Michel Prezeres landed the better strikes and controlled the action on the mat against Desmond Green tonight at UFC Fight Night 125 to earn a unanimous decision victory.

Round One:

Prazeres with a light leg kick. Prazeres responds with a big body kick and then another kick behind it.

Another kick tracks upstairs for Prazeres but is blocked. Prazeres catches a kick and lands a punch as he tries to get Green down, but it doesn’t quite pay off.

Green with a big takedown, but now it’s Prazeres turn to stand quickly. Green still has his back with a body lock though against the cage.

Prazeres tries for a sneaky trip, but Green maintains his back clinch as they go to ground. Standing back up Green remains in the clinch against the cage, but then they back away.

Body kick for Prazeres and now a leg kick. Prazeres with a hard right hand. Now another one and goes for the takedown. Green defending well and ends up on top. Prazeres continues to scramble though and now he gets the reversal.

Prazeres looking to work, but the ref doesn’t like some punches to the back of the head from him and so he warns him and rest the action on the feet.

Prazeres tries for another takedown, but it doesn’t pay off and it’s Green who ends the round on top.

Round two:

Body punch for Green. left hook gets through for Prazeres. Leg kick from the Brazilian. Another hard right hand from Prazeres, but that one is blocked.

Green in on a takedown attempt and lands it in the center of the cage. Green in his opponent’s guard, but before he can really take advantage Prazeres uses his legs to push him away and stand.

Prazeres loads up on a punch. Green in on a takedown attempt against the cage. He’s not getting it, but is happy working from the clinch for now.

Prazeres manages to walk Green away from the cage and then lands a good takedown. Prazers quickly moves to full mount with two minutes to work.

The Brazilian is working for an arm triangle and moves off to the side to finish it, but Green does well to burst out of that and get back to his feet.

Back to work they go and Prazeres manages to latch on to a guillotine choke and drops to the mat with it. It looks tight, but Green manages to escape that too.

He’s still on the mat with Prazeres on top though. Prazeres in side control and then starts working for a north south choke, which he used to finish his last two UFC opponents. However, Green again shows very good submission defense to survive through that attempt and makes it out to the third round.

Round Three:

Prazeres takes the center of the Octagon to start the third. leg kick for the Brazilian. Right hook gets through for Green, but it’s a glancing blow.

Body kick from Prazeres is blocked. Now a right hand. Green thinks about a single-leg and then lets go and tries for a one-two instead.

Another body kick from Prazeres is blocked. Green not really mounting much in the way of offense here. Half the round remaining and as things stand it’s Prazeres who looks to be heading for victory.

Green occasionally trying to burst forward with a couple of punches, but he’s rarely finding any meaningful contact. Right hand for Prazeres. Now a good body kick and then swoops in and lands a solid takedown.

Prazeres trying to move straight into mount again. Green rolls to his knees. A minute to go as Prazeres leans heavy on him and tries to work a few punches to the head. He gets warned by the ref not to hit the back of the head.

Green just not able to muster the energy to escape this position as the round comes to a conclusion with Prazeres still on top.

Decision:

On to the judges scorecards we go and it’s Prazeres who emerges with a unnaimous decision victory (30-27, 29-28 x2).
