Michelle Waterson Fights Angela Magana At TUF 21 Finale In July

Popular female fighter Michelle Waterson will make her UFC debut against Angela Magana at the TUF 21 Finale on July 12th in Florida.

Waterson was announced as the UFC’s latest signing earlier this week, ending a four-fight spell in the all-female promotion Invicta FC.

There she became Invicta’s 105lb atomweight champion and successfully defended her title before suffering an upset submission loss to Herica Tiburcio in December that halted her six fight winning streak.

Now ‘The Karate Hottie’ moves a division to strawweight and faces Magana who broke through to the UFC ranks via the TUF 20 show despite losing in the preliminary round.

Magana has since lost to Tecia Torres at the TUF 21 Finale back in December, and with two losses prior to that on her record she’ll need to spoil Waterson’s ‘Welcome To The UFC’ party in July or risk being cut from the promotion.

The TUF 21 Finale will feature the finals of the current season of the show which pits two fight camps, American Top Team and The Blackzilians against each other, while a lightweight bout between top 10 contenders Ben Henderson and Michael Johnson is also scheduled for the event and is likely to serve as the main event.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
