Misha Cirkunov vs. Ryan Spann Now Set For UFC Fight Night 187

A previously postponed fight between Misha Cirkunov and Ryan Spann will now take place at UFC Fight Night 187 on March 13th.

Cirkunov had originally been scheduled to fight Spann in December, but had to withdraw due to an injury.

That means that it’s well over a year since the 33-year-old Cirkunov last fought, earning a noteworthy Peruvian Necktie submission win over Jimmy Crute.

Cirkunov had been going through a rough patch prior to that though in which he’d only picked up one win in four fights.

That win came again via submission against Patrick Cummins, but meanwhile he also suffered three losses due to strikes against Volkan Oezdemir, Glover Teixeira and Johnny Walker.

Nonetheless, Cirkunov still holds the No.10 spot on the light-heavyweight rankings, three places above Spann at No.13.

A former LFA 205lb champ, Spann joined the UFC via the Contender Series in 2018 and won his four fights in a row against Luis Henrique, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Devin Clark and Sam Alvey, but was then KO’d by Johnny Walker in September of last year.

Cirkunov vs. Spann joins a UFC Fight Night 187 card that’s now headlined by a welterweight fight between Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad, while Eryk Anders fights Darren Stewart and Ben Rothwell goes up against Philipe Lins.
