Dana White recently voiced major skepticism about reports that Nick Diaz will finally make a comeback in 2021, but new reporting suggests that he is planning to welcome back his brother Nate Diaz to the Octagon in the coming months.
“We’re working on a Nate Diaz fight right now,” White told maclife.com. “It’s not Tony [Ferguson], but if we get it done, I think you’re gonna like it. Lightweight. It would put him in a really good position if he won the fight and the guy who he could potentially be fighting, I think it’s a great fight for him too.”
It’s been well over a year now since Diaz’s last appearance in the Octagon, fighting Jorge Masvidal for the ‘BMF’ belt in November of 2019.
That fight didn’t go Diaz’s way, losing by TKO due to a doctor’s stoppage at the end of the third round.
Just months earlier Diaz had racked up a decision victory over Anthony Pettis after a three year absence following a majority decision loss to Conor McGregor in their 2016 rematch.
As yet there’s no word on who his opponent will be for his return, which will be his first fight at 155lbs since 2015, when he defeated Michael Johnson by unanimous decision.
