Nate Diaz has finally decided to give up on his self-imposed exile from the UFC and will now return in the co-main event of UFC On FOX 13 against Rafael dos Anjos on December 13th in Pheonix.
By the time he steps into the Octagon it’ll have been over a year since Diaz last fought, earning a first round TKO victory over Gray Maynard to end a two-fight losing streak.
After that Diaz became unsettled and began to voice his unhappiness with his current UFC deal, demanding that the promotion renegotiate his contract. However, the UFC held their ground, even removing Diaz from their official rankings due to ‘inactivity’ during a stand-off that has lasted for the best part of a year.
Dana White recently revealed that he had spoken to Diaz during a night out and there was a sense that they had finally smoothed things over, and so it appears to be, though it’s been confirmed that Diaz will still return under his existing deal.
While Diaz has been on the sidelines, his upcoming opponent dos Anjos has fought three times, losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov by decision in April before rebounding with wins over Jason high and most recently former champion Ben Henderson.
Dos Anjos has now lost just one of his last eight fights and, now ranked at No.3, that leaves him on the verge of title contention at 155lbs.
So, Diaz Vs dos Anjos lands the co-main event slot at the FOX event where they will be surrounded by heavyweights with Junior dos Santos will take on Stipe Miocic in the main event with Alistair Overeem Vs Stefan Struve and Matt Mitrione Vs Gabriel Gonzaga also expected to featured on the main card.
