Nina Nunes has had to withdraw from her upcoming fight against Amanda Lemos at UFC Fight Night 199 in Las Vegas on December 18th for undisclosed reasons.
Nunes (aka Nina Ansaroff prior to her marriage with UFC double-champ Amanda Nunes) had been looking to get back to winning ways at the event following two losses in a row against Tatiana Suarez and Mackenzie Dern.
Instead, the UFC have now arranged for Angela Hill to step in and replace her, with ‘Overkill’ seeking to bounce back from a unanimous decision loss to Tecia Torres in her last Octagon outing.
That was Hill’s third loss in her last four fights, with the only bright spot being a unanimous decision victory over Ashley Yoder back in March, which has left her ranked No.12 in the strawweight division.
As for Lemos, she’s currently ranked one place above Hill at No.11 after rebounding strongly from a loss in her UFC debut back in 2017, having since compiled a four-fight unbeaten stretch.
That run started with a submission victory over Miranda Granger, then a decision win against Mizuki Inoue, while she’s been in excellent form so far in 2021, clocking in two first round TKO stoppages against Livia Renata Souza and Montserrat Ruiz.
Hill vs. Lemos will go down at a UFC Fight Night 199 event that will be headlined by heavyweight action as Derrick Lewis goes up against Chris Daukaus.
