ONE FC 9 Results: Phil Baroni Breaks Ankle;Tim Sylvia Stopped

ONE FC 9 took place in Manilla earlier today and you can see all the results below.

Koji Oishi claimed ONE FC’s featherweight title in the main event with a first round KO win over Honorio Banario, while Bibiano Fernandes became their first ever lightweight champion following a decision win against Koetsu Okazaki.

Elsewhere the biggest talking points emerged in two former UFC fighter’s bouts. First up in the prelims Tim Sylvia, who’d come in over the 265lb limit at yesterday’s weigh-ins, was stopped in the third round by Tony Johnson due to a nasty cut opened up by an elbow strike on the mat.

An unfortunate stoppage perhaps, but in truth Sylvia was on course to lose anyway after being controlled in the wrestling department for much of the fight.

Meanwhile, on the main card things didn’t go well at all for Phil Baroni who was TKO’d by a series of knees against the cage followed by a right hand to the face by Nobutatsu Suzuki. Too make matters worse Baroni fell to the mat awkwardly at the end of the fight and broke his ankle.
