Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson Out Of UFC 153 Fight With Glover Teixeira

Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson has pulled of his UFC 153 fight with Glover Teixeira after picking up an elbow injury.

“Rampage is hurt and out of UFC 153 RIO. SUCKS!!!!!!” Dana White told his followers on Twitter.

The fight had originally been intended to serve as the co-main event on the Rio card and was to be ‘Rampage’s’ final fight before leaving the UFC for pastures new.

It’s disappointing as this was shaping up to be a very interesting fight that would have either shown that ‘Rampage’ still has more to offer than people think, or that Teixeira really is capable of living up to the hype and potentially being a future title contender.

UFC officials are currently looking to schedule an alternative opponent for Teixeria at the October 13th event so it’ll be interesting to see who they come up.

Even with this fight being scratched UFC 153 still has a strong fight card on tap, with a 145lb Jose Aldo Vs Frankie Edgar title fight headlining, while potential star of the future Erick Silva goes up against Jon Fitch and Damien Maia faces Rick Story.
