Conor McGregor took a jab at Rafael dos Anjos after the Brazilian’s fourth round submission win over Kevin Lee on Saturday night, and it seems RDA wasn’t best pleased about it.
“Guess we’ll never know, cos he bottled it, with a broken toe,” McGregor wrote after UFC Fight Night 152 in response to a comment from journalist Josh Gross wondering what might have been if a previously scheduled fight between dos Anjos and McGregor hadn’t fallen through in 2016.
“Lol my bad, I didn’t know it was actually just a bruise,” McGregor added later.
RDA likely didn’t appreciate McGregor trying to take the shine off his impressive finish and despite not normally being a trash-talker, he turned both barrels on McGregor and his whiskey business.
“That broken foot is my working tool,” Dos Anjos wrote to McGregor. “Making fun as a fellow fighter shows the person you r.Before sleep you wonder what life would’ve been if that fight happened and I made you eat that foot.Enjoy your fortune drinkin that brownwatercheapwhiskey without making fun of my misfortune.”
Dos Anjos has indicated he’d be willing to drop back down to 155lbs to fight McGregor, but it’s not clear at this stage what the Irish superstar plans to do next, though he is known to still be eager to secure a rematc with Khabib Nurmagomedov – a feeling that at this stage does not appear to be mutual.
