UFC 196’s headlining superfight between Rafael dos Anjos and Conor McGregor has been canceled after the Brazilian lightweight champion suffered a broken foot.
The news comes less than two weeks away from fight night on March 5th in Las Vegas and has left the UFC scrambling to find a suitable replacement to keep McGregor on the card.
This is nothing new for McGregor who was also left facing a short notice opponent last year when featherweight champ Jose Aldo withdrew from their title encounter and was replaced by Chad Mendes.
It’ll be interesting to see who they can come up, and if for some reason they are unable to find a replacement then the current co-main event event woman’s bantamweight title fight between Holly Holm and Miesha Tate would be an option for headliner status.
