Rafael dos Anjos and Kevin Lee will fight in the main event of UFC Fight Night 151 (UFC On ESPN+ 9) in Rochester, New York on May 18th.
Though both fighters have a long history at lightweight, the fight will actually see Lee moving up to welterweight, where Dos Anjos has recently been plying his trade.
RDA started off strongly at 170lbs, racking up three wins in a row over quality opposition in Tarec Saffiedine, Neil Magny and Robbie Lawler.
However, he then came undone in an interim title fight with Colby Covington that he lost by unanimous decision, followed by another defeat against Kamaru Usman on the scorecards back in December.
As for Lee, he’s lost two of his last three fights at lightweight, with Tony Ferguson submitting him in an interim title fight at 155lbs and Al Iaquinta claiming a unanimous decision victory over him too.
Sandwiched in-between that Lee did beat Edson Barboza by TKO, although it should be noted he came in 1lb overweight, which perhaps foreshadowed his decision to step up to welterweight.
RDA vs Lee will headline a UFC Fight Night 151 card that will also feature Aspen Ladd vs. Sijara Eubanks and Patrick Cummins vs. Ed Herman alongside other fights still to be announced.
