Ray Borg’s Fight With Joseph Benavidez Moved From UFC 229 Due To Conor McGregor Legal Battle

Ray borg’s next fight against Joseph Benavidez has been forced from the UFC 229 event in Las Vegas on October 6th due to an ongoing legal battle between Borg and the show’s headliner Conor McGregor.

That’s the word according to Benavidez after their fight was shifted back to UFC Fight Night 139 in Denver, Colorado on November 10th instead.

“As far as I understand, Borg and Conor have the legal beef from New York, because Borg was one of the victims of the Conor thing,” Benavidez told MMAjunkie Radio. “It wasn’t anything Borg did. I guess Borg is like, ‘Dude, I don’t care. That wasn’t my thing. I never fought him on it.’ It was filed right away. It wasn’t like Borg said, ‘Don’t have me near Conor.’ It’s just whenever you get into that action with the civil system, they just file it that these people can’t be next to each other.”

Borg was left with tiny fragments of glass in his eye after McGregor threw a steel dolly threw a bus window near where the fighter was sitting during fight week at UFC 223 back in April, which resulted in him being forced to pull out of his bout at the event that weekend.

It is believed that Michael Chiesa also sought to sue McGregor after he was also injured as a result of the same incident.
