The word is that Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza vs. Uriah Hall is in the works for UFC 249 in New York City on April 18th.
If so that means that ‘Jacare’ is dropping back down to middleweight just one fight after stepping up to light-heavyweight, where he came away with a split decision loss to Jan Blachowicz last month.
Prior to that the recently turned 40-year-old Souza had been alternating between wins and losses at 185lbs, picking up wins over Tim Boetsch, Derek Brunson and Chris Weidman, while suffering losses to Robert Whittaker, Kelvin Gastelum and Jack Hermansson.
As for Hall, he’s currently riding a two-fight winning streak in the division, having KO’d Bevon Lewis back in December of 2018 and then followed that up by earning a split decision win over Antonio Carlos Junior this past September.
Hall has often faltered against top-flight competition, such as in fights with the likes of Robert Whittaker, Paulo Costa and Kelvin Gastelum, so he will surely see this as a big opportunity to right those wrongs and claim one of the biggest scalps of his career.
Jacare vs. Hall would join a UFC 249 event that is set to be headlined by a long-awaited lightweight title fight between current champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson.
