A major welterweight fight between Rory MacDonald and Robbie Lawler has been verbally agreed for UFC 167 in November.
MacDonald is coming off a somewhat lackluster victory over Jake Ellenberger, but nonetheless is on an impressive five fight winning streak in the division and is seen as one of the division’s leading fighters.
Meanwhile, Lawler has made an immediate impression since moving back to the UFC and making the drop down to welterweight, stopping both Josh Koscheck and Bobby Voelker in typically hard-hitting fashion which has generated a lot of excitement that he may yet live up to his ful potential at the age of 31.
The UFC will no doubt be hoping that Lawler’s aggressive, attack orientated style will bring the best out in MacDonald who was overly cautious against a hesitant Ellenberger at UFC On FOX 8.
MacDonald Vs Lawler is likely to serve as the evening’s co-main event underneath a welterweight title fight between Georges St.Pierre and Johny Hendricks.
