Ryan Bader has picked up an injury that will rule him out of his scheduled light-heavyweight clash with Glover Teixiera at UFC 160 on May 25th.
The UFC have acted swiftly to find a replacement and Australia’s own James Te Huna will now step in to fight the in-form Brazilian.
Te Huna is currently on a four fight winning streak in the UFC and is 5-1 overall in the Octagon with his only loss coming to one of the division’s top contenders Alexander Gustafsson.
Meanwhile, Teixeira has gone 3-0 in the UFC so far and is riding an impressive 18 fight winning streak overall that culminated with his latest victory over Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson back in January.
It’s unfortunate the original fight couldn’t go ahead as planned as Teixeira needs another big name win under his belt to make a strong push for a title shot. Te Huna doesn’t have that star power yet, but his UFC record has to be respected and this is a big opportunity for him to make his mark in the upper reaches of the division.
