‘Super’ Sage Northcutt is the latest signing for Asian promotion ONE FC as they continue to fill out their roster with a number of high-profile stars in recent times.
“Please join me in giving a big warm welcome to multiple-time karate world champion, Black Belt Hall of Famer, and rising global mixed martial arts superstar Sage Northcutt to ONE Championship!” ONE FC CEO Chatri Sityodtong wrote on Friday. “Sage decided to join ONE a couple of weeks ago after we came to agreement on his contract. And, he specifically asked to make his debut in ONE: Call to Greatness in Singapore on February 22, 2019.
“I have to say that he and his father are two of the most humble, and kind people I have met. With his beautiful technical skills, explosive power, and incredible athleticism, Sage is undoubtedly one of the most talented martial artists on the planet today. Get ready for Super Sage!”
Northcutt has compiled an 11-2 MMA record to date, including a 6-2 run in the UFC that includes his current three fight winning streak.
UFC president Dana White recently claimed that they had let Northcutt go to gain more experience after his contract ran out, though there’s been some suggestion since that ONE FC may simply have offered the 22-year-old more money to sign for them.
Northcutt joins the likes of Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez as recent ONE FC signings from the UFC, while retired star Miesha Tate also recently joined the company to serve as a vice president.
