Sage Northcutt Vs Mickey Gall Confirmed For UFC On FOX 22

A fight between two lightweight up and comers, Sage Northcutt and Mickey Gall, has been announced for UFC On FOX 22 in Sacremento, California on December 17th.

Gall had specifically called out Northcutt after emerging victorious in his high-profile encounter with former pro wrestling star CM Punk at UFC 203 last month.

The 24 year-old won that fight all too easily, taking down Punk instantly before sinking in a fight-ending rear-naked choke submission midway through the round.

The 20 year-old Northcutt should put up more of a fight, having gone 3-1 in the Octagon so far, including a unanimous decision win over Enrique Marin at UFC 200 in July.

However, there’s definitely still a lot of room improvement in the young stars game, particularly on the mat, as was most clearly demonstrated in his submission loss to Bryan Barberena earlier in the year.

With his ground skills, Gall will no doubt believe that he can expose Northcutt’s weaknesses, but despite being four years older than him, he has less experience overall, having gone 4-0 in his pro-career to date, while ‘Super’ Sage has already compiled an 8-1 record.

Northcutt Vs Gall is so far the only fight to be confirmed for UFC On FOX 22, which will be the final UFC before Christmas, though they’ll return again before the end of the year for UFC 207 on December 30th.
