Following his easy win over former WWE superstar CM Punk on Saturday night at UFC 203, Mickey Gall called out fellow ‘Dana White: Lookin’ For A Fight’ alumni Sage Northcutt, but it seems that there’s now a spanner in the works.
“I got someone I want next,” Gall had stated in his post-fight Octagon interview with Joe Rogan. “The fight everyone wants to see – I want “Super” Sage Northcutt, I think that boy’s corny; I want to punch the spikes out of his hair.”
Afterwards Dana White indicated that the fight may well happen, noting that Northcutt’s camp had already been in touch with him to register their interest in taking the bout.
However, it seems that the two young prospects won’t be locking horns in the immediate future, with Northcutt’s father ruling out any chance of his son fighting at UFC 205 in November.
“No one from UFC has called us yet about Mickey Gall fight,” Mark Northcutt told MMAfighting.com. “Sage would never be able to be ready for that 1 because he hasn’t been able to train due to several things. Sage has a staph infection; the UFC’s trying to find an appropriate infectious disease doctor to look at it this week.”
Northcutt is coming of a split decision win over Enrique Marin at UFC 200 in July, leaving him 3-1 in the UFC so far, while Gall has registered two wins in the Octagon to this point, though it could be argued that neither of his opponents were truly UFC caliber.
