Sara McMann has picked up an undisclosed injury that will keep her out of a proposed fight with former Strikeforce champion Sarah Kaufman at UFC Fight Night 27 on August 28th.

McMann, a former Olympic wrestling silver medalist, made an immediate impact in her UFC debut earlier this year as she picked up a first round TKO victory against Shiela Gaff.

That extended her MMA record to a perfect 7-0 and a win over Kaufman could have helped solidify her as potential title challenger in the division currently ruled by Ronda Rousey.

The UFC are currently looking for a replacement to fight Kaufman who’s coming off a victory over Leslie Smith at Invicta FC 5 which was her first bout since losing the Strikeforce 135lb title to Rousey in August of last year.

McMann Vs Kaufman had been scheduled for a main card spot at UFC Fight Night 27 which will be headlined by a welterweight rematch between Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
