Sean O’Malley vs. Jose Quinonez Pushed Back To UFC 248

Sean O’Malley will still be fighting Jose Alberto Quinonez in his return to the Octagon, but it will now be taking place at UFC 248 on March 7th in Las Vegas rather than it’s originally scheduled landing spot at UFC 247 in Texas on February 8th.

No reason for the switch was given, but UFC 247 already has a good number of fights attached to it and so it won’t have a dramatic impact on the fight card.

It does however mean that O’Malley’s return to action is delayed slightly once again and by the time he does finally set foot in the Octagon it will have been two full years since he last did so, earning a unanimous decision win over Andre Soukhamthath on that occasion.

Since then the former Conteder series standout has been held back by issues with USADA after testing positive for Ostarine, which led to a six month suspension, followed by a further delay when trace amounts of the substance were still found to be in his system afterwards.

O’Malley will be looking to build on his current 10-0 record in the fight, while Quinonez has won five of his last six bouts in the Octagon.

O’Malley vs. Quinonez joins a UFC 248 card that will be headlined by strawweight champion Weili Zhang taking on former divisional queen Joanna Jedrzejcyk, while Robert Whittaker faces Jared Cannonier.
