Sean Strickland always seemed to have the upperhand in his fight against Krzysztof Jotko tonight at UFC On ESPN 23 as he pressed the action to earn a unanimous decision victory.
Round One:
Left hand for Jotko. Punch and a leg kick for Strickland and Jotko throws a leg kick in return.
Nice straight right for Strickland. Leg kick for Jotko. Kick to the thigh from Jotko. Body kick for Strickland.
Strickland pumping out the left hand, but gets caught cleanly by a punch from Jotko.
Rangey left hand for Jotko. Straight left for Strickland and Jotko counters with a left of his own.
Strickland with a good right hand that troubles Jotko for a moment. Strickland starting to load up on his punches and Jotko is wobbled.
Crafty upwards elbow from Jotko. Hard right for Strickland that put Jotko back on his heels. left for Strickland.
Spinning backfist from Jotko misses. Push kick and a punch to the head from Strickland. Jotko with a shrot flurry of punches.
Body kick from Strickland. Jotko looking for a kick too. Constant forward pressure for Strickland. He lands a right.
Jumping knee from Strickland just misses, but lands a jab immediately afterwards.
Round Two:
Jotko with a brief flurry of punches to start the second round. Jotko with a body punch and then one upstairs.
Left hand for Strickland. Body kick for him. Nice counter left from Jotko. Inside leg kick for him. He pumps out the jab, but then Strickland lands a hard right hand.
Another right for Strickland now. He lands a body kick just as Jotko is trying to throw his own.
Jotko turns his back for a moment as he tries to move out of range, but gets caught by a hook as he does so.
Kick to the body and then one to the leg from Strickland. Again a kick to the body for Strickland.
Now Jotko lands a front kick to the body. He lands a glancing overhand left. Calf kick for Strickland as he continually marches forward.
Strickland almost catches a kick and then ducks under a punch from Jotko. Strickland lands another calf kick.
Strickland fakes a punch and lands the leg kick again. Jotko breathing heavier as blood leaks from his nose, but he’ll now have a minute in his corner to regroup.
Round Three:
Push kick for Strickland. Jotko throwing out a few punches, but not connecting cleanly. Strickland with an inside leg kick.
Strickland with a flying knee attempt and a punch behind it. Body kick for him. Quick right for Strickland. Now a looping right hand for Strickland.
Overhand left for Jotko. Now a right hand for him as he tries to get something going in the remaining minutes of the fight.
Leg kick for Jotko. Push kick from Strickland. Right hand for Strickland and a leg kick.
Strickland with a body kick. He lands a right hand that snaps Jotko’s head back. Jotko thinking about a takedown, but doesn’t follow through on it.
Punch over the top from Strickland. Crisp right hand for him. Big knee for Strickland. Body kick from Jotko. He tries a final spinning backfist that doesn’t work out.
Round One:
Solid performance from Strickland here as he continually took the fight to Jotko and landed the better strikes throughout to earn a unanimous decision victory (30-27 x2, 29-28).
