Sarah Kaufman is today in need of a new opponent after Shayna Baszler was forced to pull out of their scheduled fight later this month at the TUF Nations Finale due to an undisclosed injury.
A veteran of the sport having fought professionally since 2003, Baszler was looking to make her UFC debut at the event following a stint on TUF 18 last year, but it seems she’ll now have to wait again for the opportunity.
UFC officials are currently looking to line-up a late replacement to keep former Strikeforce 135lb champion Kaufman on the card.
Kaufman made her UFC debut at UFC 166 last year, losing out in a controversial decision ruling against Jessica Eye. However, the fight was later amended to a no-contest after Eye failed a post-fight drugs test.
The Canadian fighter wields an impressive 16-2 career record and is currently ranked at No.5 in the divison.
So far there’s no word on who the UFC are targeting to fight her, or news on how long Bazler may be out of action for.
The TUF Nations Finale takes place in Canada on April 16th and is headlined by a middleweight fight between Michael Bisping and Tim Kennedy.
