The UFC have only just unveiled their event schedule for the first three months of 2018, but they’ve already made an amendment to the list with UFC On FOX 28 now taking place in England instead of Orlando, Florida on February 24th.
The news comes along with a major fight booking featuring a rising UK star, with Darren Till set to take a big step up the welterweight ladder to fight Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson at the show.
Till made a big statement just a few weeks ago at UFC Fight Night 118 when he ran through Donald Cerrone, TKO’ing him late in the first round after an impressive display of striking.
That took Till’s unbeaten record to a perfect 16-0-1, including five fights without defeat in the UFC, which appears to have convinced the promotion that he now has the potential to become a major star as Dana White has indicated that they switched the location of the show specifically due to him.
This is a tough challenge for him though as he’ll facing one of the division’s very best strikers in Thompson, with the 34-year-old ‘Wonderboy’ signing up for the fight just days after earning a unanimous decision victory over Jorge Masvidal at UFC 217 this past weekend.
In total, Thompson now hold a 9-2-1 record in the UFC and is currently ranked No.2 at 170lbs, so he’ll see this fight as another step back towards title contention.
