Tai Tuivasa demolished Cyril Asker in the first round tonight at UFC 221 in Australia, with brutal elbows proving to be his deadliest weapon en-route to the TKO finish.
Round One:
Right hand counter from Tuisava as Asker throws a combination early. Another counter lands for the Australian. Asker soon steps back and starts circling on the outside.
Tuivasa not giving him much room to operate though as he comes in and works into the clinch off of strikes. Tuivasa backs up, but then comes forward again and lands some huge elbows and punches that have Asker in real trouble.
Asker eats another massive elbow. His head keeps snapping back here as Tuivasa hammers him with powerful blows and it’s remarkable that Asker is even still upright at this point.
This fight could be stopped at any moment by the referee, and Tuivasa makes it easier for him to come to that decision by landing yet another hellacious elbow and then shoving Asker aside, sending him stumbling into the cage and then crashing face first onto the mat, leading to the TKO finish with just 2.18mins of the first round gone.
Great work from Tuivasa then and that takes his career record to a perfect 7-0.
