Johny Hendricks yet again failed to make weight for his second fight at middleweight yesterday, but worse was to come tonight at UFC Fight Night 112 as Tim Boetsch rocked him in the second round with a head kick and then sealed a TKO victory with uppercuts.
Round One:
Boetsch with an early body kick. Nice leg kick from Boetsch. Now one for Hendricks. Back to the body with a kick from Boetsch, and again.
Both fighters throw a low kick at the same time. A body kick apiece now. Right hand for Boetsch. Now to the body again with the kick.
Hendricks with an overhand left that grazes Boetsch’s head. Front kick again for Boetsch. There’s a hard exchange in close and Boetsch gets the better of it, firing off punches and a hard kick into the bargain too.
Another right hand from Boetsch. Blistering left hand for Hendricks, but it’s not quite landing cleanly so far. Boetsch threatening with the right hook.
Body kick for Boetsch. Now a solid right hand that sends Hendricks backwards. Hendricks looking for a right hook, but then settles for a leg kick.
Leg kick for Boetsch. Front kick to the body. Punch and then another body kick for Boetsch.
Round Two:
Boetsch lands a right hand and a body kick behind it. Solid leg kick for Hendricks. Front kick for Boetsch to the body. Now a head kick for Boetsch upstairs and that rocks Bigg Rigg and sends him staggering backwards!
Now a right hook lands and Hendricks buckles. Hendricks trying to hang tough, but Boetsch hammers him with an uppercut series that sinks him to the canvas, and that’s it, ‘The Barbarian’ earns an impressive TKO victory!
It’ll be interesting to see what the UFC does with Hendricks now as he’s lost six of his last nine fights in addition to having failed to make weight on four separate occasion, while continuing to look like a shadow of the fighter that won the welterweight title a few years ago.
