Tom Aspinall Submits Andrei Arlovski In Second Round At UFC Fight Night 185

Tom Aspinall continued his good run of form tonight at UFC Fight Night 185 with his highest profile win to date against Andrei Arlovski via submission.

Round One:

Inside leg kick for Aspinall. Now a stepping jab. Arlovski bursts forward with a flurry of punches. Body kicks for Arlovski and Aspinall lands a right hand counter.

Jab for Aspinall and Arlovski returns fire. Arlovski on the outside here as Aspinall lands a few leg kicks.

Body punch for Arlovski and then tries to go upstairs too. Low leg kick for Arlovski. They exchange and Aspinall hurts Arlovski with punches to the head.

Aspinall starts teeing off on Arlovski against the cage, but just as he looks to have given up, ‘The Pitbull’ starts to swing back. Aspinall clinches up against the cage.

They go back to striking range. Jab for Aspinall. Another couple of punches come of Arlovski’s guard. Arlovski presses forward with a flurry of left and right hands. Aspinall was backing up with his head back there and only narrowly escaped taking heavier damage there.

Now Aspinall works back into the clinch. The action stalling from this position. The ref tells them to work and Aspinall lands a few heavy foot stomps.

Arlovski manages to circle out of the clinch and back to the center of the Octagon. Missed head kick from Arlovski. They both throw heavy leather and land, with Arlovski perhaps getting the better of that exchange in the final stages of the round.

Round Two:

Front kick to the body for Arlovski to start the second. He throws another kick and Aspinall fires back punches. Body punch for Arlovski.

Solid right hook lands for Arlovski. Spinning kick to the body from Arlovski misses. Now a low kick for Arlovski. Aspinall drives in powerfully for a takedown and lands it against the cage.

Arlovski looks to stand back up, but Aspinall swoops on his neck with a rear-naked choke and just seconds later Arlovski taps out! 1.09mins of the second round is the official time for the stoppage.
