Former Invicta FC bantamweight champion Tony Evinger will fight Aspen Ladd in a 135lb clash at UFC 229 in Las Vegas on October 6th.
Evinger was originally supposed to fight Ketlen Viera at UFC Fight Night 137 in Brazil, but her opponent suffered an injury and was forced to withdraw, so now she ends up with a new opponent on a much higher profile card two weeks later instead.
The 37-year-old Evinger’s one and only fight in the UFC was an immediate title shot against Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino at featherweight in July of last year, but found herself being convincingly outgunned on that occasion and eventually succumbed to a third round TKO loss.
Prior to that, Evinger had been a force to be reckoned with in the all-female Invicta FC promotion, going eight-fights unbeaten there, including several defenses of her 145lb title.
As for Ladd, the 23-year-old has far less experience than her opponent, but she is so far remained unbeaten in her six-fight career to date, and emerged victorious in her UFC debut against Lina Lansberg last time out by TKO in the second round.
Evinger Vs ladd joins a UFC 229 event that’s set to be headlined by Khabib Nurmagomedov Vs Conor McGregor, while Tony Ferguson fights Anthony Pettis in the co-main event.
