Former UFC heavyweight star Travis Browne has been hailed as a hero in the aftermath of a shocking attack on WWE legend Bret Hart at a Hall of Fame event on Saturday night during an induction ceremony for ‘The Hart Foundation.’
While people’s first reaction will no doubt be to believe this was a scripted sequence, the reality appears to be that this was a real incident in which a fan rushed into the ring and proceeded to slam the 61-year-old cancer and stroke survivor to the mat, taking WWE star Natalya, who was by his side, down as well in the process.
The WWE cameras cut away from the incident as it was in progress, but fan footage from the stands afterwards revealed that the first person to scramble into the ring to help protect Hart was none other than the 6ft 7″, 245lb Browne, who was in attendance with his wife Ronda Rousey.
Browne managed to get on top of the fan and was seen landing several ground and pound blows while subduing him in the midst of a choatic scene that also saw other WWE stars, official and security attempt to intervene before he was eventually lead away.
Browne retired from the UFC in 2017 after a series of losses in the promotion and has since married Rousey, who herself had left the promotion and joined the WWE.
