TUF 20 Finale TV Ratings

Friday night’s TUF 20 Finale was watched by an average of 989,000 viewers on FOX Sports 1, peaking with 1,219,000 viewers during the main event strawweight title decider between Carla Esparza and Rose Namajunas.

In general that’s a solid number for a UFC broadcast on FOX Sports 1, but it is actually down on the previous two TUF finales with TUF 18’s conclusion having been watched by an average of 1.13 million viewers last year, while one million tuned in to the TUF 19 Finale earlier in 2014.

Both of those events had higher profile fighters featuring in the main event slot however with TUF 18 sporting a rematch between Nate Diaz Vs Gray Maynard while TUF 19 had Frankie Edgar Vs BJ Penn III.

On this occasion though, due to the fact that Esparza and Namajunas were fighting for a belt mean they got top billing, while Charles Oliveira Vs Jeremy Stephens featured in the co-main event.

The prelims for the TUF 20 Finale were watched by 719,000 viewers – again down in the ratings compared to the TUF 18 Finale (938,000) and TUF 19 Finale (774,000) prelims, but still not a bad number for what was an all-female line-up of strawweight contenders.

In addition the TUF 20 Finale post-fight coverage was watched by 300,000 viewers on FOX Sports Live.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
