UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley fulfilled a childhood promise this Christmas when he bought his mom a new house.
“It’s a very special Christmas for me,” Woodley said in an instagram video. “Since I was a 10-year-old kid, I always told told my mom that I would buy her a house. Today is that day. It feels really good. Really rewarding. A really good day for me. Really excited.”
25-years after making that initial promise life is definitely going well for ‘The Chosen One’, who has now been the 170lb chmpion for a year-and-a-half, retaining the belt despite back-to-back challenges from Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson and Demian Maia since his initial title victory over Robbie Lawler.
Woodley is currently out recovering from shoulder surgery, but there’s plenty of challenges left for him in the division, with GSP potentially returning to the weight class in 2018, while the likes of Rafael dos Anjos, Colby Covington and Darren Till are all emerging as new forces to be reckoned with at 170lbs in the coming year.
