Prelims:

Michael Chiesa defeats Francisco Trinaldo by unanimous decision (30-26 x2, 30-27)

Trinaldo certainly had his moments in this fight, looking the more dangerous fighter on the feet – particularly when he hurt Cheisa with a knee to the body in the first round, and also threatening with a tight guillotine choke in the second. However, for the most part it was all about Chiesa’s dogged determination to get takedowns and excellent top control, including a long spell in full mount in which he hit his opponent with everything but the kitchen sink, with his elbows in particular being very effective.

Tony Ferguson defeats Katsunori Kikuno by TKO at 4.06mins of Rd1

Kikuno started off crisply enough with some strikes finding their mark, but quickly the tide turned in Ferguson’s favor as he began to find his own range and had his opponent wobbled with strikes. Up against the cage Kikuno looked in danger of being stopped by more blows, but managed to hang tough. Ferguson wasn’t giving him time to recover though and kept the pressure up, continuing to punish him for his lack of defense to the point that Kikuno started to just run away. Ferguson chased him though and after clobbering him one more time the dragged him to the ground. Ferguson mulled over his options for submissions, going for an armbar and flipping Kikuno over before finally sinking in a d’arce choke. Kikuno survived and got back upright, but their was no respite from Ferguson’s offensive output, and eventually he was dropped to the mat by a big right hand hand to the jaw that ended the fight by TKO. Impressive showing from Ferguson.

Chris Holdsworth defeats Chico Camus by unanimous decision (30-27 x3)

Holdsworth dominated Camus on the mat in this fight and threatened with submissions, but Camus’ defense was good enough to allow him to survive until the final bell. No doubt about the winner here though.

Mitch Clarke defeats Al Iaquinta by submission (d’arce choke) at 0.57mins of Rd2

This fight was all Iaquinta early thanks to takedowns and top control right up until the point where Clarke suddenly caught him in a d’arce choke from his back early in the second round and rendered him unconscious.

Vinc Pichel defeats Anthony Njokuani by unanimous decision (30-27 x2. 29-28)

Pichel was able to nullify Njokuani’s offense with repeated takedowns over the course of 15 minutes her to earn te victory here.

Sam Sicilia defeats Aaron Phillips by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28 x2)

Sicilia goes to a decision for only the third time in his 17 fight career and emerges victories by unanimous decision, while Phillips picks up his first ever loss in six pro fights.

Jingliang Li defeats David Michaud by split decision (30-27, 28-29, 29-28)

Good competitive fight to start of the card, with Li deservedly getting the nod from two of the three judges to start his UFC career off with a win.
