UFC 178 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC 178 event in Las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 fighter bonus awards were announced.

Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the jaw-dropping middleweight battle between Tim Kennedy and Yoel Romero which saw Romero on the very of being finished late in the second round, before then going on to finish Kennedy by TKO early in the third.

Meanwhile, the first ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus was handed to Conor McGregor who again backed up his words with actions as he took out Dustin Poirier by TKO in less than two minutes of Octagon action.

The second ‘Performance Of The Night’ award went to Dominick Cruz and it was richly deserved as the former bantamweight champion returned after an unprecedented three year lay-off and yet somehow managed to look better than ever as he despatched Takeya Mizugaki by TKO in just 61 seconds.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
