Following last night’s UFC 191 event in Las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a wildly entertaining scrap that lasted just two minutes and 8 seconds between John Lineker and Francisco Rivera as both men slung heavy leather toe-to-toe until one of them – in this case Rivera – dropped (twice). Then Lineker pounced for a rear-naked finish to cap off a thrilling return to the bantamweight division.
The first ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus was handed to Anthony Johnson who put the troubles in his personal life behind him and once again proved to be amongst the heaviest hitters on the UFC roster as he knocked out the dangerous Jimi Manuwa early in the second round – initially flooring him with a right hand before sealing the deal with ground and pound.
Also deservedly scooping up a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award was Raquel Pennington who was getting the upperhand on the feet with solid boxing combinations against Jessica Andrade in the preliminary portion of last night’s event, but then showed off another side of her game by catching the Brazilian off-guard with a rear-naked choke which forced her to tap with just 2 seconds left of the second round.
