If Rashad Evans can get past Antonio Rogerio Nogueria this weekend at UFC 156 then he could be in line for a title shot in the middleweight division against Anderson Silva.
That’s the word according to Dana White who earlier in the week had stated that they were weighing up two different options for Silva’s next title defense with Chris Weidman being one of them.
When pressed about the matter at yesterday’s UFC 156 media day White acknowledged that Evans was also under consideration.
“I would consider Rashad,” White told Ariel Helwani. “If Rashad won on Saturday night and wanted to go to 185, we would consider that.”
Later, Evans indicated that he would accept the fight if it was offered to him.
“I would definitely do it,” Evans told Helwani. “With that said I have a tremendous amount of respect for Anderson Silva and what he’s done in the UFC. I think he’s one of the greatest fighters. I would love to get a chance to fight Anderson.”
